hmmm, perhaps for many reasons that should be instantly obvious...

1) it's new, not many people know about it.
2) its alpha version and most people that want to play it are waiting for a much more... "refined" version
3) There aren't very many servers

and of course other reasons related to doom that apply to all ports...

While the beta is indeed playable, the bugs and lack of proposed features makes Odamex unpolished compared to alternatives in this stage of development.

Indeed, that is of course the main reason. However, I've played some games on there and despite some shortcomings it IS playable... and I see an odamex irc channel full of ppl and can't convince anyone to play!!!!

Good things takes time. A solid userbase is one of those things. Still, doesn't mean we can't put any effort in to get a userbase, but it's better to wait until the netcode is at a playable state.

One of the major turnoffs for me regarding netcode is the anti-wallhack code, as its side-effect becomes more severe over higher ping.
