I downloaded the Version 0.2 Alpha Windows 9x/2000/XP Starter Package and extracted all the files but I do not see a wizard or anything to install it or where I copy the wad files to I have no idea what to do to get this up and running?

There is no installer, just double click odalaunch.exe to list servers.

Ok I clicked on the launcher and a list of games popped up, I selected one and clicked on it and nothing happened, so what do I do now?
Do I have to copy the wad files from my DOOM collectors edition and if so where to?
What ports need to be forwarded for me to play?

You need to tell the launcher where your IWADs are or at least have a copy of one in the same directory as everything else.

Sorry that does not help I have the collector's edition so I have 4 games I know where the file is for the games but where do I go to tell the launcher where the wads are?

Again what ports do I need to forward to be able to play online?

1) Open the launcher
2) Go to File->Settings
3) Click the Add button next to the wad dir, locate the Collectors Edition directory (usually under C:\program files\ directory somewhere)
4) Find the location of Ultimate Doom, Doom 2 and Final Doom IWAD files (filenames are doom2.wad, doom.wad), these may be located in subfolders
5) Repeat the process for all 3 game IWADS

Again what ports do I need to forward to be able to play online?

You shouldn't need to forward any ports unless you want to host servers

thank you for the information, I would like to know what ports to forward? I do host games now and then and I also find that I get a better connection (less chance of getting booted) when I am playing online if I have the ports forwarded

10666 is the default, but as Russell said, ports should only need to be forwarded when eunning your own servers, not when connecting to existing ones.
