I'd fix it, but apparently it's a "doom2.exe tactic" by some people or something. Any particular reason why this shouldn't be fixed in Odamex?

If Odamex aims to preserve the essence and behavior of the original game and already does so by preserving bugs such as wall-running and the plasma bump, then I think it should stay.
This is the nuclear shakedown.

However those are all gameplay and physics changes that would effect gameplay, Naut.

I don't think there's anything wrong with fixing it since its only a cosmetic issue. Odamex will still feel like doom2.exe with or without the bug fixed.

I vote fixed.

It's a little more than just a "cosmetic issue".  Things that people may be used to seeing or not used to seeing when in certain maps IS a "gameplay" issue.  I'm not an expert on the subject but the argument could certainly be made.

For now I vote no on this until more research can be done.

I agree, stuff like this shouldn't be messed with, as it also may affect demo compatibility.

Its also bit non-sensical because someone may create a bug report to add it back later on.

Sorry but I have to vote no.

It'd have to stay if it affects demos, but does anyone have a real-world example of this affecting gameplay?

I don't see how it affects demo compatability. All it affects is the display of a bullet puff.

Yeah, but it depends if the bit of code to do the animation changes the random number generator or not. Shouldn't do, but I haven't checked either.
