That's right, we've come to the general consensus that the code is now currently GPL compatible after numerous discussions between developers.
Now the next stage is to include GPL headers on each file that ends with .cpp or .h, and to setup SVN for public read access. How long will this take? Not very long, my faithful followers!
Does this mean that a formal release is imminent? Sorry, but not today. There's still many bugs (http://odamex.net/bugs/) to fix, but we believe that with public source code access we can squash these at a much faster rate.

Great news.

Great news.
great might be an understatement for those of us playing on non-microsoft operating systems, but if it turns out that it is not, anyone in the world can do their part to make it better. That is why opensource wins. :)

yeah, way to announce this a couple of days after I stated that I want to get away from the doom community
;D

The source has already been marked in full. We are simply awaiting a couple of final commits, a meeting to discuss some things, and then phase 3 will commence.

Awesome.
Can't wait to play with public betas, if I can get them to compile. :)
