ODAMEX IS HERE!
Odamex, the Free and Open Source multiplayer Doom Engine began back in July 2005 (http://odamex.net/wiki/Timeline) as idle talk, a dream if you will. Now, thanks to the dedication of wonderful, talented doomers worldwide, we proudly present version 0.1 alpha! There are a few things to keep in mind, namely that this is ALPHA QUALITY software; this means that A LOT OF STUFF IS EITHER NOT IMPLEMENTED YET OR BUGGED OUT. You will find however that Odamex is a pretty stable, cross platform application that aims to provide a top notch client/server experience while staying slim and trim.
Select a package below to get in on the odamex action!
Windows 9x/2000/XP Starter Package (https://sourceforge.net/project/platformdownload.php?group_id=144102&sel_platform=58)
Mac OS X PPC/X86 Starter Package (https://sourceforge.net/project/platformdownload.php?group_id=144102&sel_platform=100)
Complete Universal Source Package (https://sourceforge.net/project/platformdownload.php?group_id=144102&sel_platform=42)

Just to nip this in the bud, there are proper places (http://odamex.net/bugs) to report bugs, the forums are not one of them.
Also, PLEASE REMEMBER: This is an alpha, it is known to be bug ridden and incomplete. Many bugs have been posted already, so it is worth your while to check them out first.

Nice. I tested out it with Rust, and found the shots to actually hit! Amazing! I'm a fan of Doom, so one more port will be great. I hope to see this port expand and go on to do great things. With shots hitting like an aimbot, I'm sure it will. ;)

Sounds nice.
(Hotels with wireless internet ftw.)

It's already out. Because you're running linux, compiling the source yourself should be a cakewalk for you.

You'll notice at the top (and on the front page) that there is a linux icon. Clicking this icon will get you the package that best suits your operating system. In this case, the source package is the best thing for you. You can also check out a working copy of the svn repository. Take a look at the wiki (http://odamex.net/wiki) for more details.

Great job on Odamex. As someone who has played Doom since its original release, I have to hand it to you guys, it really does feel like the real deal, even in its early stages. Although there is going to be alot of work on it to come, Odamex already looks great, keep up the good work!

Complete Universal Source Package (https://sourceforge.net/project/platformdownload.php?group_id=144102&sel_platform=42)
Has anyone gotten a successful .deb package build yet? If so would they be kind enough to post the additional files to the SVN, and contribute the binary to their particular distro. (I know there are quite a few Ubuntu users in the OdaMex community.) I have a feeling it would really help draw some good developers in to get packages into the contribs.
I'll search to see if someone out there has made a .deb on their own and hasn't announced it, or announced it in a more subtle location than the primary news page. If so I'll fetch the modified source and make the necessary additions for Ubuntu Universe/Edgy-Backports subsection compliance.
Additionally, have there been any Windows tests with GCC yet? Just curious . . .

a .deb package right now would be stupid

SERIOUSLY, how many times do you have to be told? Odamex has been compiled with gcc/mingw since very early on. The windows packages provided on this website were compiled with GCC, so YES THERE HAVE BEEN TESTS AND SUCCESS.
