Nitro Zone / Nitro #6 - Old Schewl CTF

Saturday was pretty much a UD party. I haven't played some of those maps in years, it was a fun reminder of how great those wads really are!

It's been a challenge to find a CTF pack that runs on Odamex (besides the usual few), so I was pretty pleased when I dug this up and found out it works. Classic maps such as doom2 map01, e1m1, e1m8, ssl2 and more have been turned into CTF maps.

Nitro Zone / Nitro #5 - UDM 2+3 Team Deathmatch

Wow! Saturday has to be the most fun I've had so far. Just about 30 people showed up in the span of 2+ hours, I was very impressed.

This week I thought it would be a great idea to revisit some of the best DM wads out there, UDM2 and UDM3. Not too many wads beat those on my list of favorites. They consistently provide great fun, and it should be no different this coming Nitro.

Nitro Zone / Nitro #4 - Greenwar 2 Deathmatch

Saturday's CTF session was pretty fun, but it wasn't as popular as I hoped. That just means we'll have to revisit CTF very soon! This week I'd like to play Greenwar 2, which is all the fun we remember from the first Greenwar with a more colorful look.

A little side note: soon enough I hope to have a European session going, so for those of you across the pond, your day is coming. :)

Nitro Zone / Nitro #3 - 32in24-4 CTF

Once again, Nitro was a huge success last week! I thought it was pretty cool that we made it all the way to Onslaught 3, and people stuck around for nearly 3 hours. I took a few screenshots, but here's one early on.

I struggled a bit trying to decide which CTF wad to run, but I think this is our best bet. These maps are all extremely fun, and of course, Odamex friendly :). I'm glad there is enough enthusiasm for people to ask for CTF, so here it is!

Nitro Zone / Nitro #2 - Onslaught 1+2+3 Team Deathmatch

Last week had a lot more people than anyone had anticipated! It was a great turnout, and I'm really happy that everyone stuck around through the server issues and what not. I managed to get a cool screenshot of IDE for anyone who missed out.

This week I thought I would take advantage of Odamex's ability to run multiple wads on the same server and run all 3 editions of the popular Onslaught series. There will likely be 2 or 3 servers limited to a certain number of players so we don't experience the spam and lag we did last week. Let's get to it then:

WAD(s): Onslaught, Onsl2, Onsl3_
Maps: 51 (1-12), (1-18), (1-21)
Mode: 14-Player TDM (40 Fraglimit)

Dr_Sean has a message for anyone who experienced lag issues last week: Please be sure to double check that your Odamex client has the appropriate rate setting. This can be changed from the console with the command "set rate 200000". This will ensure that your bandwidth is not capped, which sometimes occurs when upgrading from an older Odamex configuration file.

Nitro Zone / Nitro #1 - 32in24-10 FFA

Here we are, the first official Nitro post! I sincerely hope this will be one of many. Like I said before, our goal here is to have fun, and any wad or game mode suggestions are welcome. I'd like to kick off with the latest release from the 32in24 team, something I'm not sure has seen much gameplay anywhere. Nothing better than starting with some good old-fashioned FFA!

Special thanks go out to Manc for getting the forums back up for us. Let's make him proud, shall we? :)

Devoblog / Reintroducing... ODAMEX NITRO

That's right folks! One of the hardest things to do when trying to play Odamex is finding people to play with. Fear no more, because we'll find people for you! Every Saturday at 8pm EST we'll be injecting a huge dose of Odamex directly into your veins. Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture The Flag; you name it! The only thing we can't offer you is a spot at the top of the leaderboards.. you'll have to join and achieve that yourself.

These sessions are aimed are creating a worthwhile, competitive, and fun experience on the port we all love. Got suggestions? Leave them here! How successful we are is up to you guys. There's great opportunity to expand to more than once a week, so make it happen! Stay tuned for a further announcement regarding Nitro #1, which will take place on Saturday, August 20th @ 8pm EST. Don't be late!
