Merry Christmas! There's no better way to spend the holidays than spending time with family, opening presents, eating desserts, and of course playing Odamex. It's a special time of year, so it's only fitting to run a special kind of wad, UDMX. Nearing the 3rd year since it's release, UDMX has captivated the mind and soul of all who have played it. Something else captivates minds and souls... oh yeah, Christmas! What a good match!

Nitro Zone / Odamex Nitro #18 - IDDM18 FFA

This particular installment by the Infernal Doomers Team was featured in a /newstuff about a year and a half ago but hasn't received much attention since then. This is a very nicely detailed wad and the maps are just big enough to fit a decent amount of people, so expect chaos!

I wasn't able to make it last week, but I heard everything went really well and people were playing for several hours. That's really great to hear!

Time for another round of old school maps. This is a wad I haven't touched in years, should be a fun one to dig up.

We definitely made up for all of the mistakes with two full servers for over 3 hours on Saturday. Lots of fun, might be my favorite 32in24 yet!

It's always nice to return to something old and familiar, which is why I picked vex-doom for this week. This is my favorite wad to play TDM on, and also happens to be another wad made by Toke!

On Saturday, the 32in24 team was nice enough to let Nitro be the debut of their newest creation. Although well over 30 people showed up, there were some server issues that hindered people's ability to play. That's why this week, we'll be revisiting the wad by having 2 servers that don't let more than 12 people play at the same time!

10 weeks of Nitro, well that is certainly a feat! Last week's CTF session was fun, minus the horrible font that was used for 32in24-7. Still, we ended up playing for around 90 minutes, and non-stop action for that long is just about as much as I can take.

I thought it would be fun to revisit a wad that was really popular when it was first released, Omgmaps. You can't say that Toke made the prettiest maps, but he sure as hell knew how to make interesting and inspiring layouts. Toke was a big part of Odamex early on in it's development, until he was tragically taken away from us. He was a great friend to not only myself, but the entire doom community. I'd like to dedicate this session to him, and let's rock out on some of his great maps.

Dwango12 was a lot more fun than I expected it to be, we ended up playing for a solid hour and a half. The classic maps really are some of the best. Screenshots: #1, #2.

We played a couple of 32in24's early on, so that's why I saved this one for a little bit later. It's been a long time since I played this wad in a larger setting which makes me pretty excited!

Unfortunately last week was a bit of a letdown as we had some server issues. We went for about 30 minutes until the lag stopped everyone, so hopefully we'll have a bit more success this time around.

Dwango12 is a cool wad that tends to get overlooked by dwango5. I'd say that I enjoy 12 much better. I've also noticed that DM has been more popular than TDM, so let's keep it rolling with that!

So, I was pleasantly surprised at how great those CTF maps played with that many people. I think everyone else was too, including fyre, who decided to come out of mapping retirement and make osctfmp2! I wish you good luck, I'll be ready to host it here when you're finished. Screenshots from last week: #1, #2, #3.

Crucified Dreams is a wad I've had on my mind since the first week of Nitro. I don't think there's a mediocre map in the entire wad. Honestly. I'm not a huge fan of making certain maplists for these events, so instead of cutting them out I decided to throw the smaller maps towards the end of the rotation. That way, when its peaking we all won't go crazy!

Saturday was pretty much a UD party. I haven't played some of those maps in years, it was a fun reminder of how great those wads really are!

It's been a challenge to find a CTF pack that runs on Odamex (besides the usual few), so I was pretty pleased when I dug this up and found out it works. Classic maps such as doom2 map01, e1m1, e1m8, ssl2 and more have been turned into CTF maps.

Nitro Zone / Nitro #5 - UDM 2+3 Team Deathmatch

Wow! Saturday has to be the most fun I've had so far. Just about 30 people showed up in the span of 2+ hours, I was very impressed.

This week I thought it would be a great idea to revisit some of the best DM wads out there, UDM2 and UDM3. Not too many wads beat those on my list of favorites. They consistently provide great fun, and it should be no different this coming Nitro.

Saturday's CTF session was pretty fun, but it wasn't as popular as I hoped. That just means we'll have to revisit CTF very soon! This week I'd like to play Greenwar 2, which is all the fun we remember from the first Greenwar with a more colorful look.

A little side note: soon enough I hope to have a European session going, so for those of you across the pond, your day is coming. :)

Nitro Zone / Nitro #3 - 32in24-4 CTF

Once again, Nitro was a huge success last week! I thought it was pretty cool that we made it all the way to Onslaught 3, and people stuck around for nearly 3 hours. I took a few screenshots, but here's one early on.

I struggled a bit trying to decide which CTF wad to run, but I think this is our best bet. These maps are all extremely fun, and of course, Odamex friendly :). I'm glad there is enough enthusiasm for people to ask for CTF, so here it is!
