Devoblog / Re: The road to complete spectation.

I think it's also fair to note that any of the above could change before the next stable release.  0.4 aims to (finally) unify and solidify many of our own protocols, properties and methods.

To Ralphis's credit, he could have been in PPP Pro-Am.

Devoblog / News? On this site? Unpossible!

« on: April 08, 2008, 21:28:07 »
...but true!  For those hardcore dedicated folks that have been following our latest developments, you may know this, but for the 98% that may not have revision 559 is a critical update for those running development versions of Odamex.  We recommend updating your servers (and dev clients) asap (the latest revision as of this writing is 0.3r563).

In other old news, MagFEST was awesome, but we're not committing at this time one way or the other for next year.  It was definitely a challenge, but overall a success.  We had very well-run tournaments, and we gave away all our swag.  As soon as I get the link again from Rottking I will link pix.

In sadder news, you may have noticed we no longer have a Master 1 master server.  Thankfully odamex.org is still operational, so be sure your servers and launchers are pointing to it.  By default communication should happen on both, but in case you modified the list (naughty!) odamex.org is the place to point.

I think that's it for now.  We're getting the ball rolling again, crawling out of our winter caves and pushing up our sleeves.  And remember, if you're ever interested in contributing via bug tracker patches, documentation or anything else, we are here to facilitate!

The source tarball has been updated and should compile on linux systems correctly now.

0.3 is very near.  I'm going to close this because the time to release is so close.

Devoblog / Bugtest Weekends Are Go!

« on: April 25, 2007, 23:04:07 »
AlexMax has taken the helm for overseeing Bugtest Weekends, where people can get together with the expressed consent of finding new bugs and testing if old bugs have been corrected since patches were applied.  This of course assumes you can build from latest source, run a debugger and can apply due dilligence to rigorous testing.

So if you happen to have a weekend where you don't have anything going on, stop on by #odamex @ irc.oftc.net and get in on the testing awesomeness.

Technical Support / Re: sceen size

« on: April 03, 2007, 15:32:50 »
You need to change the resolution, it's running in a 320x200 window by default.  Options -> Set Video Mode.  Make sure you hit D once you find the settings that suit you best.  Notice also that you can change it to fullscreen as well.

Developer's Corner / Re: Vicious bug testing/discovery cycles

A regular testing or at least a third party committee that can manage such bug testing or other bug management functions would be most helpful.

Technical Support / Re: I need help installing?????????????

You need to tell the launcher where your IWADs are or at least have a copy of one in the same directory as everything else.

Developer's Corner / Re: New Scoreboards

« on: March 29, 2007, 15:19:43 »
Too much option and customization can cause problems.  With something like the scoreboard it would be best to first reach a consensus on how it looks.  Besides, you'd still have to plan around "worst case" anyway, like having all options shown.  So you design around that, then if there's room for making columns optional then maybe it could happen.

Technical Support / Re: Need help installing Mac OS X

« on: March 21, 2007, 17:30:14 »
Ok I think I'm just going to wait until a more stable version of Odamex on Mac OS X comes out. I realise its still in development, but I just don't like using unix and stuff to get this thing working. I'll still be checking this place, however. Thanks for your help.
It's not about being "stable".  Your problem is that it can't find your compiler.  Do you have GCC installed?  Surely you must to have been able to compile the client and server.  If you have not, then you need to have that.  The source you're compiling from will continue to be like this unless someone magically cooks up some totally different way to build this stuff.

I'm not sure what you mean, but if you're referring to anything happening in the odamex community to you like that please do not hesitate to pm me.

Yeah we're still trying to find someone who can maintain a mac binary package.  I recommend once you get what you have working to check out a copy of the svn repository so you have the latest source.

We've not had documentation drawn up yet for how to get wx going/compiling the launcher on a mac, but if you do figure it out please write down your steps and add it to the wiki, it would be greatly appreciated.

Try checking out wxwidgets' website for help on getting wx to compile.
