Devoblog / Re: Play with Yourself

I think this topic has a double meaning.
What?! Where did you get this preposterous idea from?

I doubt it'd ever make a return, thanks to SoM's upcoming Cardboard renderer.

You've asked this already, it's been answered already. Recent developments for the launcher don't require wxWidgets 2.8 anymore, you can use 2.6.3 to compile the launcher safely.

General Discussion / Re: why is noone playing?

Good things takes time. A solid userbase is one of those things. Still, doesn't mean we can't put any effort in to get a userbase, but it's better to wait until the netcode is at a playable state.

One of the major turnoffs for me regarding netcode is the anti-wallhack code, as its side-effect becomes more severe over higher ping.

This article in the Odamex Wiki should be helpful.

Developer's Corner / Re: Strife Multiplayer?

« on: February 26, 2007, 00:15:52 »
It should work in ZDoom. I've played Strife DM with Danni (ZDaemon developer) with a 2.0.63a beta of ZDaemon and there were no problems whatsoever.

General Discussion / Re: OdaHook

I'll let someone more experienced with coding handle the rest of the topic, but:
If you think it will help I can send you the source for my hacks.  If you just give them to zdaemon let me know and I will just open source them if you want look.
I'd personally like to see the source code to this. I have no intention of giving it to anyone on the ZDaemon team.

I read the message again and could I be wrong?  Message is hard for me to read.
He's asking for you to make a OdaHook. He doesn't have OdaHook and neither does his friend.

General Discussion / Re: Allow multiple key bindings?

« on: February 01, 2007, 20:13:36 »
(PS: sorry to topic advertise, but I need help with getting this to work on Mac OS X...anyone have a link to the Mac OS X launcher, at least?)
There is no need to cross post, we read the first time. Thanks.

Keep it.

I was originally going to do it, but by all means, go for it. You'll do a better job at optimizing the code than I probably could.

I'm going to vote "no" because this makes usage of SR50 rather trivial.

Tried setting 'natport' on the server?

You've already asked this. Please do not ask again as it is irritating to answer repeat questions.

I know Typone is using an outdated private version of Odamex and we haven't been able to contact him recently.

EDIT: He has updated his servers. My bad. It's possible that currently newer versions available in the SVN can cause desyncs with 0.1a, but it's not confirmed.

General Discussion / Re: Good first release. but some ?'s

« on: January 21, 2007, 12:38:19 »
Thanks for the comments Bpy6. To ansers your questions:
What about some new features? It'd be very great if you include the spectating system that makes a player be a spectator first before joining the game, like it is in Zdaemon.
Spectator support is planned, as well as demo recording. Hang tight.

The most annoying bug is that client cannot join a server correctly. I choose one server and the client connects me to another one, so it makes necessary to connect thru the console. It cannot tell the ports I suppose.
http://odamex.net/russell/odalaunch1.exe

This fixes the problem you described.

P.P.S. And one more question... Will there be some type of scoreboard, exp points table, like zdaemon has... It there WILL be, please don't make it as stupid as zdaemon has. The exp there doesn't really show skills you know, exp shouldn't be counted only by frags, doublekills etc, it should depend on your opponent exp, so winning experienced opponent gives more exp, than winning n00b =) It's real zdaemon problem.
There was talk about this a year ago, but we never came to a decision and I doubt we will anytime soon. It's something that is incredibly low on our priority list.

We have a NSIS script in SVN, but it isn't going to be used until 1.0.
