Technical Support / Re: Anyone using v0.6.4 on AmigaOS?

« on: August 13, 2014, 18:22:24 »
The latest version of Odamex is version 0.7.0, and 0.6.4 cannot connect to it. All of the servers use 0.7.0 or some branch of it.

Developer's Corner / Re: Killing sprees

DOUBLE POST!

Actually I got my own Win32 build going. Here it is if anyone wants to check it out:

*POOP*

Also it is worth mention that if you use GCC builds of Odamex, I recently updated my GCC to the newest version and as such libstdc++-6.dll has been modified. I included it with my build as it is needed for Odamex to start. So you might want to create a new folder specifically for this installation

As of right now, here are things that need to be added in or fixed:

*The multis timing is a bit off. 3 seconds is standard?
*Add "name is on a killing spree"
*Add "name was looking good until he killed himself"
*Add "Name's killing spree was ended by name"
*Find a new location on the Y axis for the messages?
*Sometimes you will see "killing spree" again after dying recently after getting a killing spree

So the team is trying to crack down on maps with bugs that result in not being able to complete a level. Examples of this might be a switch does not initiate a wall or lift to go down, or something along those lines.

Now we're well aware that voodoo dolls (and thus voodoo doll scripts) do not work online in Odamex, and while it is certainly something the team wants to have in the future, the best way to approach this is still disputed.

So, if a map works in ZDoom 1.23b33, but does not work in Odamex, please let us know about it in this thread. Please be sure to provide a link to the wad, the map involved, and as many details as possible on how to replicate the issue.

Thanks!

Heads up everyone, IDE and Doomseeker must be updated in order to support 0.7 servers. Please use Odalaunch in the mean time.

EDIT: Both have since been updated.

Technical Support / Re: Odamex Doom Builder Config?

« on: February 06, 2014, 09:15:26 »
Most people just edit using a Skulltag config and avoid using Skulltag stuff.

We used to have a Boom config that included the CTF flags, but this was a long time ago before Odamex supported ZDoom stuff like ACS and slopes

Maps, Wads and Mods / Re: Grievance - Team TNT's 32 level DM pack

TNTGRVNC isn't the only one. My personal favorite is Bloodlands!

66.170.3.5:10752

MWI1 hosts a "TeamTNT Oldschool Deathmatch Rotation" server and Pursuit, Grievance, and Bloodlands are a part of it.

Eternal Deathmatch is also really good. Reclamation is my least favorite, but it does utilize some cool BOOM features.

Hi Ant,

There are some map scripts that you might find helpful. They were implemented a long time ago and I have never tried them myself, so I have no clue if they actually work or how they work. The best information I can give you is the page for them on the wiki.

Technical Support / Re: Settings will not save.

« on: August 09, 2013, 16:28:33 »
You don't want it to be read only. What you can try doing is deleting odamex.cfg entirely. If that fails, uninstall Odamex and reinstall it to a place that is not Program Files (or Program Files (86), if you're on Windows Vista/7/8).

As for loading pwads, do not use the drag and drop method. Instead, you can load pwads through the Odamex console. For example, use "wad doom.wad" to switch to doom.wad from doom2.wad. No quotes. Use "doom2.wad av.wad av.deh" to load pwads, etc.
