Nitro Zone / Nitro #72 - Double Impact Coop

It's the first Nitro of the New Year and we're kicking it off with a new classic in Double Impact. Yes, it has won a Cacoward but in my opinion it is still very underplayed across the multiplayer landscape, so let's give it some much-deserved playtime.

I think we'll go with some sort of a combination of doubled monster health/damage. Either way we'll try to offset the fact that so many people playing 9 maps would cause this one to be over rather quickly for a Nitro.

It's our first ever COOP Nitro!! That alone is deserving of the balloon covered logo, but we'll also be playing something that perhaps you may have heard about entitled Saturn X.

Where do I start with the introduction of this one? How about the authors: Esselfortium, Skillsaw, Pavera, Iori, RottKing, Hobomaster, and Tango just to name a few. Forget Cream, THIS is a supergroup people. You don't want to miss this.

We'll be using item respawning.

Everybody knows and has played these maps, but how many of you can say you have played them with teams? Probably very few, if any at all! I was much too lazy this week to find something to play on my own and when I asked for suggestions, this was one of them. It's totally not something I ever would have thought to play so that's pretty exciting. Hopefully the maplist is good enough and I didn't leave in any clunkers.

Nitro Zone / Nitro #65 - Velocity CTF X Release Party

So maybe it's not the official release party, but it's definitely going to be a party. As a huge fan of the original Velocity wad, it is such a cool and great thing to see this second set end up surpassing the original. I love all of these maps and I honestly haven't heard a bad thing about any of them in the beta tests I've been playing over the past few days.

Since we're all so familiar with the original 12 maps, let's put those at the end of the rotation and focus on the new awesome maps!

This wad takes me back to some of the earlier days of Skulltag, where I spent endless hours playing LMS or TLMS with it. I haven't taken a look at some of these maps in more than a few years, but they look just as good as they did back in the day. As it was one of my favorite wads to play, I'm really excited about this session!

Another beta to playtest! My friend/clanmate/fellow carb-loader LordBritish has been working on FancyCTF for a few years but I only just recently forced him release this version. I'm very excited to play this because I've always liked the maps, but they have lacked some real playtesting. So let's do it!

Nitro Zone / Nitro #58 - BucketDM 2 BETA

As a big fan of the original BucketDM, I was really excited when I learned that Bucket would be working on another set of maps. He released the beta at a perfect time for it to be scooped up and run here for feedback and playtesting. If you played the original not too long ago with us, you will recognize a lot of the maps but some of them have changed their order since then. New maps are mixed in with the old maps, so don't get too comfortable!

I'm sure Bucket would appreciate some feedback, so if you can either leave it here or register on doomworld and drop a few lines in his thread.

I have had forever.wad in the back of my mind for a while, but considering it is only 4 maps and they are pretty small I needed something just as crazy to run with it. Dew suggested brit11, so here we are! 10 of the most exciting and BFG-happy FFA maps you'll ever play. I hope you can handle them.

Part of the fun of running these events is not only getting to choose weird and underplayed wads, but forcing all of you unsuspecting people to join and play them along with me. It isn't very often you find a wad with as much variation as this one, which contains nine DM maps and six duel maps. It is not very often they are good either, but that is what we have here. So lets do it!

Nitro Zone / Nitro #53 - 32in24-12 CTF FINAL RELEASE

Join us as we celebrate the final release of 32in24-12! Once again it has been a lot of fun coordinating this with the 32in24 guys, the session last week was split up between 2 full servers and it was really great. I'm hoping everyone who played got a chance to give some feedback, and hopefully those of you who mapped were able to muddle through the bad complaints to make your maps better.

I saw some really promising maps that I can see making their way into the IDL wad or just becoming popular in general. Pretty awesome work guys! Some screenshots: #1, #2, #3, #4.

Nitro Zone / Nitro #52 - 32in24-12 CTF BETA TESTING

The moment you have all been waiting for is finally here!! The 52nd Odamex Nitro Session. It has been an exciting first year and what better way to celebrate this occasion than having a BRAND NEW 32in24?? Yes, I've been attempting to hype this for the past month so hopefully you are all just as excited as I am to play.

We'll be doing this similar to the way we did 32in24-11. This Saturday we'll be testing all the maps that were made, giving our opinions and criticism and tips and such. THEN, everyone will get a chance to use what they learned to go back and make the necessary adjustments. The following Saturday we will play the final released version of 32in24-12. So get ready!

There will be a playerlimit for these sessions, since this is CTF. There will be 2 servers (and perhaps a 3rd if demand is high enough) running in order to accommodate everyone that wants to play.

I feel like this is the only wad I write about! The short version is that this is the best CTF wad that has come out in the past few years, and it's a lot of fun even in a public server. The long version can be found here.

Additionally, I have tried to hype up the one year anniversary as much as possible without revealing anything but I think I should give you something now. You will know what it is within the week, and it will be a two week celebration. I will leave the rest to your imaginations!

Hex and Soul were salivating at the thought of running this, so I'm happy to give them what they want for once. If you are claustrophobic or you haven't enjoyed some of our craziest sessions, you might want to sit out on the sidelines for this one. Oh yeah, and I hope you like railguns!

Nitro Zone / Nitro #48 - Just Doom It! FFA

I feel like this wad was just released yesterday, but in March it reached it's 7th anniversary. It is funny how time flies, but less funny how time treats certain wads. This one was pretty popular up until a few years ago, but like many other wads it seems to have fallen out of the public eye. Not to worry though because I will not rest until this makes its triumphant return, if only for a night!

Speaking of anniversaries, in a month we will be celebrating the one year anniversary of the first official Nitro session! I can't say anything more than we've got something special planned, and to mark your calendars because August 18th is sure to be one exciting night.
