Maps, Wads and Mods / DK_DM_3

« on: June 14, 2014, 22:47:39 »
Hello Odamex DM lovers!

I've slaved over Doom Builder yet again and constructed 12 more deathmatch maps. I went in with the goal of creating some really powerful, replayable layouts. The better you know the turf, the better you'll do in game!

There are also 20 of my older maps included, with various bugfixes:texturing glitches, VPOs, areas the player could get stuck, etc. have all been eradicated. Other layout improvements are present as well.

I hope you enjoy them! Feedback is always appreciated!

Thanks to Mr. Crispy, Doomguy93, Sparklebunny, and everyone else at Odamex, Zdaemon and Zandronum who playtested. Also a big shoutout to people who found the major camping spots/other MASSIVE troll areas in the oldie maps. Because of you, the maps are now improved!

A game breaking bug has been fixed - Download the new version here! http://www.mediafire.com/download/e4cht4r5c1p6zs0/dk_dm_3f.zip

The filename is now DK_DM_3F.wad. There was a broken deathmatch start on map22, but the issue is resolved.

Maps, Wads and Mods / New Guns for DM!

« on: May 01, 2014, 04:53:48 »
Hello again my friends. Today, I'm releaseing something small but fun, called "Doomkid's Deathmatch Guns". Sadly, it isn't a new pack of levels, but rather a gun modifier pack.

The aim here was to make something less exaggerated than the common gun mods seen online, many of which don't even take Odamex compatability into account - These are supposed to feel like 'official' Doom guns, with a little extra kick, perfect for a fair but fresh Deathmatch.

DOWNLOAD: http://www.mediafire.com/download/7r3j7i60eeodap0/dm_guns.zip

SCREENS: (Basically, they're modified alpha sprites, the only ones that I thought looked good enough)

The skins and sound addons don't seem to work in Oda, but they're just little addons anyway.

Enjoy!

Damn, putting those spritesheets together must have been a lot of work. Nothing I could make will do them justice, but I'll try anyway!

Maps, Wads and Mods / Re: The Deathmatch Dump - 90's stuff!

A doomworld user by the name Joe667 pointed out a few old wads to me which are included in this file: http://www.wad-archive.com/wad/4bfee98407b19c6a80fa75b59da986e4

It's called LBDWANGO, and it feels sorta like the "lost levels" of the dwango wad series. This is a 50/50 mix of good and bad deathmatch arenas.

Here are some DM demos from 1996 for a preview:

Very very oldstyle DM stuff, a very interesting find!

7 more maps, this time by a user named Timer who apparently was a regular on Oakland Dwango. These ones seem like a badass fragfest!

I'm having a lot of fun compiling old DM stuff, so here are a few more!

Melee Deathmatch by Jeremy Statz. These maps were made in 1995/1996, they seem like they would be great for about 4 players. 9 maps are present in this pack.

Compilation Deathmatch by Mark Anderson, Andrew "Dman" Orman, MIDIguy, Stealth, Rob Oshiro and Alissa Colby. 12 nice maps here all in different oldschool styles by a variety of authors.

Maps, Wads and Mods / The Deathmatch Dump - 90's stuff!

I found some interesting DM maps on /idgames by a user named KILOWATT (Terry Duke) made in the old days of DooM. 13 single files which I have compiled together, each containing a MIDI and a Demo. These seem pretty good for their age, screenshots/DL below!

I hope you guys enjoy these maps, compiling them was just a fun way to kill an hour. Of course, the author gives permission to do this. We should give these a shot online some time if anyone is keen. :)

Hello again deathmatchers,

I just finished Doomkid's Deathmatch 2, 15 vanilla maps. Screens and download below:

I think people who are familiar with my deathmatch stuff will find these to be above my previous par.

Some of these are remakes of older maps of mine, but revamped for a deathmatch. If you're familiar with them you'll have an advantage when you play online. Each map is full of secrets so wall humping anything that may look out of place is always a good idea.

Hope you all enjoy them :)

I'll go ahead and give some spoilers away now.
On map01, there's a grate that can be passed through. You hit a switch in the dark hall, then run to the outdoor bit, and a teleporter has opened briefly.

There's a computer panel with an out of place blue lightstrip near a green armor suit on this map as well. Press the computer panel to reveal the other secret teleporter.

In the dark hallways, there is a secret switch and light amp goggles as well in a 0 light, 64 wide tunnel.

On map02, there is a slightly different ickwall texture with support borders. This wall can be passed through revealing a switch for the BFG teleporter.

On map03, both of the green baron skulls on the wall activate secrets. One is the exit, the other opens a switch up the stairs. After pressing this switch run outside very quickly. A teleporter now leads to the BFG. There is also a wall that can be raised to prevent BFG/Plasma spammers from getting free frags.

On map04, there's a dead doomguy in one of the long hallways. He's hiding a BFG! There are other secrets mixed in these maps as well, sometimes hidden on computer panels.

MrCrispy has very kindly hosted the wad on one of the westside connection servers. Any time we're both online I'd be happy to have a match in them, even if my ping will be like 900+ :P

Hello fellow FFA fanatics!

I'm here to officially release ZMatch 2014 on behalf of Doomguy93, [DM]Mike, SparkleBunny (my lovely fiancee) and myself. We're oldschool DM lovers, and we all collaborated for this latest project. Screens below:

I'm releasing this wad first on Odamex, as this is where oldschool style maps seem to recieve the most appreciation. If you guys like it, I'll go on to release it on the other forums as well :)

Mr Crispy and Capo helped me out by playtesting this with me - Thanks guys!

Let me know what you think, good or bad! :) I'll pass all opinions on to the other crew members, and hopefully get them on Odamex for some DM.

Enjoy!
