General Discussion / New ranked duel server

« on: January 19, 2017, 09:06:35 »
Here's something fresh for the 1v1 fiends out there, we have created a new duel server at 45.76.129.34:10002
Every game played here will be applied to a ranking system.
Weekly top players will be honoured in the MOTD, new rankings will be up every Thursday.
You can download the wad here - http://www.forgotten-warriors.net/wads/duel2k17.wad
Have fun!

The first switch here on map20 does not work.

doom 2 pwad.
Kill the revenant and rush to the switch. This should lower the floor, but it doesn't.
0.7.0 client.

It works fine in the zdoom build linked.

edit: I think this is some sort of compability flag issue. just opened 0.7.0 client to try it in single player and it worked fine, but I clearly remember it being broken.
I was hosting this wad online a while ago and it clearly did not work as you can see in this demo.

I was running this dehacked patch on the server. Could it have broken the lift?

General Discussion / NADA - Bi-weekly 1v1 Tournaments on Odamex

« on: February 27, 2014, 09:18:56 »
NADA, short for North American Doom Association, is an organization that runs bi-weekly 1-on-1 tournaments on the Odamex engine. In spite of its name, it features players from around the world (with servers across the North America and Europe). Unlike other tournaments, the NADA is focused not only on high level competition, but bringing in new players and introducing them to dueling at a competitive level. If you've ever wanted to ease into playing competitive Doom, check out NADA and consider signing up for the next tournament!

Players can sign-up through the forums and chat/practice with other players through the official IRC channel: irc.quakenet.org #nadoom.

I thought it looked a bit disappointing at first glance but after running around the maps a few times I think it looks very interesting, weapon/item placement is a real highlight and the layouts seem fresh
A bit confused on how to get the big items and guns on some maps though
I'll need to play some games to really judge it

General Discussion / Re: How Did You Find Odamex?

« on: September 14, 2012, 09:42:47 »
A month ago me and a friend wanted to play some doom 2 coop, we had tried prboom but it was difficult to get working and we kept disconnecting when we did get a game going.
I am a big fan of old school gameplay and after looking at most of the source ports odamex sounded very promising so we got it and enjoyed some games on doom 2 coop servers.
After a few days I started playing some DM as well and joined the Velocity CTF nitro which was also great fun.
